Firstly

I graduated! :boogie: August 15th I move into a totally 80's dorm room all the way downtown, across a whole ward of town from where all my classes are. I am signing up for classes in Italian, hopefully to prep for a semester abroad in Florence... but those are high hopes and still a ways away. My dear friend Gabby, or ~silistra, was kind enough to buy me a subscription for graduation, so a little grateful applause for her is in order.

Dear god.

I FINALLY saw Star Trek. I know, I know. One of three responses:
1.) DORK! (to which I will not respond, because I am what I am ;) )
2.) What took you so long? (I've been trying to get to that theatre I promise!)
3.) Live long and prosper.
It was a really, really great movie and totally worth ticket price. I was really suprised, I've never really been into sci-fi, but it was just SO good. Afterwards my friends and I got really really lost downtown looking for a certain street. Unfortunately Scotty couldn't beam us up. Saddening really. (And man I'm a nerd. :P) Still, it was really good and I'm wondering everyone else's thoughts on it. :D

Man I know there was a reason I chose to update my journal today and I really can't remember why. Although, I am gearing up to sell a few pieces of real actual art (not just characters) so if anyone is interested in decking out their dorm room or real house walls, please send me a note and we can chat! :D

(Yes that is me, Mucha-fied. :) )

I used to think I drew just because it was fun; it was a way to take my stories and put them onto paper in a wway that didn't have to make any sense to anyone else. I used to draw because I never really took the time to get better at anything else.

Now I've realized that illustration is as much an art as anything else, and that it's okay for me to love my characters and want to share them. They represent facets of me that might be ridiculous, improper, or difficult to 'be' everyday; they help me channel my emotions and to learn about myself. Hopefully they can touch you too.

(And not like that, you perverts.)
